These are the biggest tomatoes I think I've ever grown ie the fruit, not the plants themselves.
It's hard to get a good representation of it on the camera... but think roughly half the length of a Papermate pen for the biggest one of them
However... I prefer large cherry tomato size. You know, enough for one sandwich, or to put in lunchboxes (speaking of which must do the stainless lunchbox review soon), or to have a few as a snack, or when cut fit perfectly on 'crackers' with cheese... and they don't take anywhere near as long to get to full size and ripen. A quick crop.
Fruit is fruit though - I shall not whinge that they are growing so well! These ones self seeded and sprouted from whatever was in the compost. I think they're from the truss ones we get at the local market f&v shop. There is a LOT on one 'bunch' and they are big and heavy.
So we will just see if they get to ripened stage. With no chooks out the front I can really notice the 'bug control' difference, to the plants out the back. very much. Bring on the fence and somewhere to put a chook tractor out the front!

This time last year I had no chooks, for the first time in many years. This year I have a dozen of them. It's amazing what a difference it makes to the pest population at my place too. I've sworn by chook tractoring for years, and the six months without chooks convinced me even more.
Lots of passata made from those though? They look very healthy and delicious!
Linda - yep, hooray for chooks! Mind you this year there's been more bugs about, I'm sure... weather related perhaps?
Lesley - they'll be lucky to make it to passata lol they'll be in salads for dinner :) Yay to not having to buy tomato!
